We believe that there is an Aprilia RSV4 & Tuono recall on the horizon in the UK. Both Australia and the US have already issued the recalls, and as is customary, the UK is likely to follow suit some weeks later.
The recall affects over 1,800 bikes in the US, and 250 in Australia. A recall in the UK would affect approx. 950 bikes.
The cause of the recall as per the US recall notice is that the PPS master cylinder piston can crack, causing the front brake to fail. Australia have been more vague stating just that ‘The braking system does not perform as expected under extreme braking’.
Aprilia have instructed their US dealers to replace the plastic piston with an aluminum part. Production of new models will use a master cylinder with the aluminium piston.
We will update this post with the details of the UK recall once it has been issued. Once the recall has been issued, owners will be notified directly by mail. If you are concerned that your bike may be affected we would advise that you speak with your local dealer.
