KTM have issued a recall notice affecting 1,527 bikes currently on UK roads. The KTM Adventure models 1190S, 1190ADV, 1190R, 1290S, 1290ADV & 1290 R – (All models up to and including model year 2016) have been recalled due to the possibility that contact may occur between the wiring harness and the ABS modulator.
An electrical connection may be created via the brake line between the ABS modulator and the vehicle ground. For this to occur, the wiring harness must be frayed and must be in contact with the ABS modulator and the brake line must be electrically conductive. A conductive brake line can overheat and ultimately melt which can result in failure of a brake system circuit.
KTM have agreed to recall the machines that are likely to be affected to check and where necessary correct the routing of the wiring harness. If a wiring harness has been damaged the correct level of repair will be applied, after advice is sought from the manufacturer.
VINS affected are VBKV19400DM900346 to VBKV2940XGM946686 and VBKV59400FM923035 to VBKV5940XGM948123.
KTM are contacting owners directly, however if you are concerned that you may be affected and have not heard yet, you are advised to contact your local KTM Dealer. This recall is being tracked by KTM under reference TI 11_181394.
